Meet the Heart of Our Allenby Family
At Allenby Dance Studio, our teachers aren’t just instructors—they’re mentors, cheerleaders, and part of a close-knit community that feels like family. With a wealth of experience across many dance styles and age groups, our team is passionate about creating a welcoming, supportive space where every dancer feels valued and inspired. They nurture not only skills and technique but also confidence, friendships, and a true sense of belonging. From tiny beginners to advanced performers, our teachers celebrate each dancer’s unique journey and help foster a lifelong love of dance within a warm, caring community. Together, they make Allenby more than a studio—it’s a place where friendships grow, creativity blossoms, and everyone feels at home.

DEBBIE HOLDSTOCK
Hi there, I am Known as Miss Debbie.
I am the founder of the Allenby Dance Studio and it has been a huge part of my life for 35 years. My passion has always been Classical Ballet, and I love helping students work on technique and beautiful artistry. I began learning Ballet and Tap at 4 years old, and have taught Ballet Tap, Contemporary and Jazz over the years. I now mainly focus on Classical ballet to all ages.
It is wonderful to work with children so keen and excited to improve.
I am proud to say my two daughters are a wonderful asset to our school, and Selina is now doing an amazing job of running the school. I am proud to have been awarded Life Membership of Australian teachers of Dancing. Live Love Dance.
SELINA HOLDSTOCK
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
With over two decades of teaching experience at The Allenby Dance Studio, I have had the privilege of guiding dancers of all ages through ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, musical theatre, hip hop, acro, performance teams, and solo work. While I love all styles, my true passion lies in developing performance skills, refining strong technique, and crafting creative choreography that inspires and challenges.
From the moment I took my first dance class at the age of two, I never looked back. Dance has been the heartbeat of my life, and sharing that love with my students is my greatest joy. I strive to create an environment where passion thrives—built on strong relationships and mutual respect—so that every dancer can grow with confidence, artistry, and enthusiasm.
MELISSA WEST
I began teaching at Allenby Dance Studio in 1999, covering all styles of dance, and more recently, I’ve added Zumba to the mix! I started dancing at the age of three, and my passion has only grown stronger over the years.
Classical Ballet is my favourite style to teach, but I also enjoy working across a range of styles. I currently teach students from around 10 years old through to seniors, with classes in Ballet, Progressive Ballet Training, Jazz, Contemporary, and private lessons.
TAMARA REYNOLDS
I started dancing at 7 years old and fell in love with the art of movement. My teaching journey began while I was still in high school, assisting at Allenby from 2007–2011, and then continuing to assist with Saturday classes in 2012.
I also had the opportunity to teach ACB syllabus and stretch classes at the QNB after-school program in 2012–2013, before returning to Allenby as a teacher in 2014, where I’ve been ever since.
My favourite styles to teach are Ballet and Contemporary, though I currently enjoy teaching a wide variety of ages and levels. Ballet is probably the style I teach most, and I love helping students of all ages grow, learn, and fall in love with dance just as I did.
LAYNE YOUNG
Hi, I’m Layne!
I’ve been teaching for 4 years, after spending 7 wonderful years as a dance assistant. I actually started dancing myself when I was just 4 years old, and it’s been such a big part of my life ever since.
My favourite styles to teach are tap and jazz, but what I love most is working with our little ones – seeing their smiles and helping them discover the joy of dance makes my job so special.
CHANELLE YOUNG
I have completed my Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management. I love dancing and continue to compete in our senior teams. I started my journey as a dance assistant in 2021, helping with the 6 & Under and 8 & Under competition teams, and officially began assistant teaching in 2023 after graduating high school in 2022.
I began dancing when I was three years old and joined the Allenby family at six. My favourite styles to perform are Ballet and Musical Theatre, but when it comes to teaching, I especially enjoy Ballet and Acro. I mostly teach our younger students aged 3 to 8, and I absolutely love being part of their early dance experiences!
CHARLIE WEST
I’ve been teaching at Allenby for three years, after spending six years as an assistant teacher. I started dancing when I was just about to turn three, so dance has been a big part of my life from an early age.
My favourite styles to teach are hip hop and jazz, and this year I’m mostly working with students aged 2 to 13, though I also teach a few older classes. While I cover a range of styles, jazz and hip hop are definitely my favourites to share with my students.
